Current implementation
The current local build stores a visitor's cookie preference in browser local storage under the key halden-cookie-preferences. This remembers whether essential-only or analytics consent was selected. The build does not ship an analytics provider by default.
Essential preference storage
Essential storage is used to remember the privacy choice so the site does not repeatedly ask for the same decision in the same browser. It is not used to build an advertising profile.
Optional analytics
Analytics must remain off unless a visitor explicitly opts in and an approved analytics provider is connected. Before enabling one in production, Halden must update this policy with the provider name, data categories, retention, transfer information, and withdrawal instructions.
Managing your choice
The banner provides Accept all, Essential only, and Manage preferences actions. You can also clear browser site data to remove the stored preference during testing. A production site should provide an always-available preference control in addition to browser controls.
Review before launch
Cookie rules differ by jurisdiction. The final published version must be reviewed for the locations in which Halden operates and the technologies actually deployed.
