NamePerplexity is a term from language modelling that measures how well a model predicts text; here it is the product's name.

Overview

What Perplexity is

Perplexity combines web search with language models to give direct answers with citations. It is designed for research-style questions where you want to see where an answer came from.

Its newer products add an agent called Computer and the Comet browser, which push it from answers toward doing tasks.

Current models. Perplexity routes across models from several providers. Public trackers describe the addition of GPT-5.5 in April 2026 for Max users and Perplexity Computer launching earlier that year.
